About
Welcome to Dish ‘n’ Dash!
Thanks for stopping by and taking part of my healthy living journey!
I love food, have developed a love of running and working out, and generally enjoy doing things that make me happy. All this leads to me being the best and healthiest version of me I can be.
While I am a pretty healthy person now, that wasn’t always the case. In September 2009 I took some pretty big steps towards leading a healthier and happier life, including losing a bunch of weight by following the Weight Watchers points plan, taking up running, learning about healthy eating, and spending a lot more time in the kitchen.
In 2011, I started eating a gluten-free diet to address some digestive issues that became extremely noticeable (and irritating!). Since then, I’ve been diagnosed with a number of food allergies, including to wheat, yeast, peanut butter, soy, and corn, among other things and have drastically changed my diet. I take a lot of inspiration from the paleo approach, which eschews grains and dairy and emphasizes meat protein, vegetables, and some fruits and nuts. So far, this approach is working for me though I refuse to completely give up chocolate!
In August 2012 I decided to leave my full time job (you can read about that decision here) in Ottawa to pursue my goal of a career in international development. I am currently living in Cambridge, Ontario but in January 2013 I’ll be embarking on some travels, which I will definitely be writing about here.
So, thanks for stopping by and checking out my little corner of the blogosphere. If you have any questions/comments/suggestions, please feel free to post or send me an email at dish.and.dash (at) gmail.com.
Please also note that while I write about fitness and food, I am most definitely not a personal trainer nor a nutritionist and am only writing about my own experiences.
